Get ready for the 6th annual Grove Fest! This diverse and lively event will take place on October 1, 2011 (Saturday) from 4pm-11pm. Grove Fest is an independent, wild, eclectic gathering in St. Louis’ s Grove district. This year’s event will feature live music from Aaron Kamm and the One Drops, The Stone Sugar Shakedown, and DJ Needles to name a few. Entertainment will be highlighted by the Arch Rival Roller Girls and Miss Ohio Vintage Fall Fashion Show and as always the paint-by-numbers mural (2010 mural) will be part of the festivities, which all Grove Fest patrons are invited to help paint. In addition, numerous vendors will be selling an assortment of food, drinks, and wears.
When WUMCRC asked Kim Yawitz (owner of the Gramophone and co-chair of Grove Fest), what does Grove Fest mean to the area she stated:
In addition to bringing several thousand visitors to the Grove each year, Grove Fest highlights various aspects of the neighborhood that make it unique and exciting. We focus on the creative and artistic elements of the neighborhood. We also try to drive visitors to the many outstanding food, beverage, retail and entertainment establishments that have played a significant role in the neighborhood’s growth.
Brooks Goedeker, community development manager at WUMCRC and co-chair of Grove Fest stated:
We are very excited about this years event which will be on Manchester between Tower Grove and Boyle Avenues. The festival will feature more street performances and entertainment than ever before and it will once again be the best people watching of the year.
Volunteers are needed for breakdown of the event. Please contact Kim Yawitz at kim@thegramophonelilve.com for information on how you can volunteer.
