After dealing with the inconvenience of the construction and closure of the Chouteau bridge and Interstate 64, once the Grove businesses heard the Metrolink bridge over Vandeventer Avenue was going under construction the general sentiment was, “Here we go again”. Fortunately the rumored two month project only took 6 days to tear down and rebuild and the Grove patrons have once again easy access to the area.
A big hats off and thank you goes to Metro. Crews began work on December 26, 2009, and the bridge returned to service on December 31. Below is a time-lapse of the demolition and construction:
