April Sunshine Brings Spring Cleaning in St. Louis

As the weather gets nicer in St. Louis, many community groups have been out and active doing their part to clean up the city and enjoy the sunshine.

The West End hosted “Clean Up Day” on April 17th to clean up the streets running north and south throughout the neighborhood. This event was one of many community clean up events held along the Hodiamont Tracks, sponsored by Great Rivers Greenway, in preparation for a potential new greenway along the Hodimont Corridor. An Advisory Committee has been formed to determine whether a greenway would be a good use for this corridor.

Academy-Sherman Park will host a ‘Hello Spring’ Neighborhood Clean Up this Saturday, April 24th, from 8am – 12pm, and another Clean Up on Saturday, May 29th, also from 8am – 12pm. Bags, rakes, and shovels are provided.

In addition, the Fox Park Neighborhood Association is hosting a Neighborhood Cleanup and a Yard Sale this weekend. The Fox Park Yard Sale will take place Sunday, April 25th from 8am – 1pm. Those interested in attending are instructed use the map posted on FPNA social media the evening before the event and to look for orange balloons indicating participating homes. Fox Park Cleanup will also take place on April 25th, from 11am – 2pm. Volunteers are to meet at the Fox Park Pavilion (2732 Shenandoah Avenue) and are asked to bring water, gloves, and mask.

City Foundry STL is also hosting several exciting events this weekend. They will host Bayou in the Lou on Saturday, April 24th, and Sunday, April 25th, with music by Red & Black Brass Band, The Scandaleros, and Funky Butt Brass Band.
